To wish us peace and luck in the new year, I designed a 3D printable origami crane. I like the idea of translating folded paper into plastic. The crane comes in parts that can be put together. Eventually I'd like to modify wings to build a family of different sized cranes. There are 5 parts: the body, wings, head, tail and a connector to hold the wings and body together. You'll want to be thoughtful with placement of supports and platform placement to minimize overhang and roughness. For the wing, I made sure the front facing part was on top (it's one part, so I rotated it on the platform for the second wing in RepG.) The head is very delicate, so I printed it standing straight up with support-like a skyscraper-with the head at the top.I printed everything in ABS at .2 with 10% fill (there's not a lot of fill). Designed from scratch in TinkerCAD.
