
A centerpiece projector that will project the constellation Canis Major down onto a table. I made this for the annual dinner of the Auckland Astronomical Society. Will have one of these on each table, because I can't find any good astronomy-themed centerpieces. Follow the steps on the instructions page, It's actually quite simple to make. The print files should be good to go. They should be correctly scaled and self-supported, so no supports or rafts are required. You can use the battery holder for anything you like, it's not customized exclusively to this projector, except it's got a very slight indent on it so you can tell where the LED goes. You can also get the battery holder on its own. They should be correctly scaled and self-supported, so no supports or rafts are required. You will need: Instructions: Thread some thin wire through the holes on the battery holder. The wires on the + (positive) side should go through the center holes to touch the battery, then loop up and through the back holes to the other side. Glue down the LED onto the LED impression on the - (negative) side of the battery holder, then glue down the positive side (the side without the LED impression) of the battery holder into the lid. You will need to solder the contacts of the wire onto the LED. While I tried to give a solderless solution, it just wasn't happening I'm afraid. Note: Try not to melt the battery holder with your soldering gun Pop the battery in (make sure the + etched on the holder matches the positvie side of your battery
