My daughter asked me if I could create a 3D printed plastic mouthpiece for her Baritone Horn, that wouldn't freeze to her lips while participating in marching band, outdoors in January. I modeled the dimensions carefully after her metal mouthpiece and they sound the nearly same in side by side tests. Actually, I would say that the printed part sounds less harsh.
She has demonstrated it for her Band-mates, and now they want them too.I printed this in ABS with with a 0.25mm slice thickness and a 95% infill, triple wall thickness. It requires some smoothing on the inside of the large part of the bell to be comforatble to use. I just sanded it with 400 grit sand paper, but an acetone vapor bath might work better. The small end gets very thin, so a cooling fan is needed, or there will be some deformation.
