Sort of an update of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:86512. This time I didn't use 123D but data from CT. Much more detail of course. Another deer this time.Edit: I've tried twice now to print it and while the antlers are great the snout/nose/huge thing on the front will not really print well: too many details, too small a print. So I'll do some experimenting with reducing faces and smoothing things up a bit. I'll be back ... Okay. I've now resampled data to a quarter of the faces (now being 62k). Also, I've tried another one of MeshLab's smoothing filters and it gave me the wanted result: Printing the smoothed version does work now, even if I make the model smaller, no more loss of any noses. The filter does one thing though: the proportions seem to have changed slightly. The skull and the antlers look like the guy was on steroids during his lifetime ;) Anyway: have a look at the new data version: Capreolus^Reloaded_62k_fractal_smoothing.stl The last two picture show the prints. With the small one, one of the antlers doesn't print correctly anymore. And that's my last word on capreolus, may he rest in peace...
