This is a 3D printed card reader. It is a housing for 6 IR LED's and 6 IR Receivers. The card reader is constructed from three parts layered on top on one another and bolted together with M3 bolts. More info on the Chipin Project can be found at http://www.ionsystems.uk/Print one of each part (1x Top, 1x Middle, 1x Bottom, 1x LED Tray, 1x Receiver Mount). We used black PLA at 0.4mm for all parts. We coated the parts in heat resistive paint to ensure all parts we IR reflective. Electronic Components 6x Sharp IS471F (http://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data%20Sheets/Sharp%20PDFs/IS471F.pdf) 6x Vishay TSAL7200 (http://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data%20Sheets/Vishay%20Semiconductors/TSAL7200.pdf) 1x Microswitch (not sure what model) Assembly Instructions Install the LEDs and receivers in their respective mounts. Solder/connect all the pins. See the receiver datasheet for basic circuit. Bolt the mounts to the top and bottom layers. LEDs go on top layer, receivers go on bottom layer. Bolt the layers together. Glue a micro switch between the two blocks of the top layer, ensuring that a card actuates the switch. Mounting We hot glued the card reader to a piece of aluminium extrusion.
