The death star on top of a platform with the caption, "Home Sweet Home!" It took a few days and a lot of back and forth between formats to create this. I likely went through 40 different files to complete it. I took the 3 parts of the death star and filled in their holed and merged them back together. Removing the hanger loop at the top wasn't easy and wasn't perfect. I was going to use a platform I found online but for whatever reason it contained a lot more surfaces than was apparent when I tried to add text, so I was forced to make that from scratch. Honestly I think if Sketchup had the tools and functions of AutoCAD from 15 years ago it would be far less frustrating. lol. I haven't attempted to print this item yet, but if anyone else would like to try it and let me know how it turns out I'd love to hear it.I took a preexisting death star model and merged the 3 pieces of it back together after some editing both in Sketchup and Repetier Host. I created the platform for it entirely in Sketchup, and used Meshlab to convert between .stl, and dae when needed (and was needed often). At all major junctions I had to take an .stl to netfabb cloud to fill in holes and remove access lines. I resized the final item right in Repetier Host.
