Added v2. Easier turning on track, smaller holes, rounded. Ballasting tools make the task of laying ballast on model railroads quick, easy, and clean. Unfortunatley, the tools to do it are pricy and overengineered. Here's a basic ballasting tool that does the job just as well. I plan to make designs for additional scales, but needed this in a pinch on my layout. Enjoy!Simply print in place. Tool Instructions:
Place on track, and put in ballast. Run back and forth on the track to that the entire roadbed is covered. There will be additional ballast on the ties, but that is normal. Clean them up with a small paintbrush. Cement in place. Give the cement time to dry. Tool has been tested on Code 83 track with 18 inch radius sucessfully. Smaller radii (<18 inch) or smaller code track (like code 70) may or may not work.
