This is my first to laser cut leather. I made a protective mobile case made out of a thin, soft leather in petrol blue. I designed the pattern in OpenSCAD and made it able to adapt to different phone sizes. A dxf for my phone (Sony Xperia Z3) is available as well. Detailed instructions: http://www.instructables.com/id/Laser-cut-mobile-sleeve/ Short: Get some material that fits your style. I used a soft 1.2mm thick leather. If you don't have a Xperia Z3 you need to load the scad file in OpenScad and change the parameters 'mobile_thickness', 'mobile_height' and 'mobile_width' to you phone size. You need to modify the 'added_height_margin' and 'added_width_margin' as well to fit you type of corners. The parameters in the file are for very round corners (Xperia Z3). Add a bit more for sharp corners like iPhone 5. After cutting you need to sew the parts together. Start at the bottom and go in a simple wave pattern though the holes up and down again. Don't pull to hard or you will get bumps.
