As part of my contribution to the Vertical-x contest on reprap.org http://www.reprap.org/wiki/Vertical_X_Axis_Standard_Contest i redesigned the wade extruder to be more compact. This is part of my Vertical-X design: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:12441This extruder uses 3 micro skate bearings (#688:8165mm) instead of the usual skate bearings (#608:8227mm). These smaller bearings are just as easily and cheaply available on the net and make a much smaller design possible.Because the spacing is smaller between the motor and the hobbed bolt the standard gears don't fit. I decided to print a set of 8t and 37t gears with a circular_pitch=240. This gives an easy 4.6 gear ratio. The spacing between the motor and bolt is 30mm. Use the parametric_involute_gear_v5.0.scad script to generate your gears see: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3575There is no bottom/ mounting plate on the extruder body, this part is printed as part of the x-carriage.A video of the extruder working: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4QAhoa9acU
