My more or less usefull attempt to recycle the batteries of Impossible Filmpacks, inspired by the original Polaroid 600 Radio: http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/unknown_polaroid_600_plus.html but you can use all kinds of Impossible Filmpacks, u just need to take out the battery ;) My more or less usefull attempt to recycle the batteries of Impossible Filmpacks, inspired by the original Polaroid 600 Radio: http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/unknown_polaroid_600_plus.html but you can use all kinds of Impossible Filmpacks, you just need to take out the battery :) Additionally you'll need some radio electronics. I used this christmas calendar my son got this year: http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/1225952/Adventskalender-CE-UKW-Radio-Adventskalender-2014-ab-14-Jahre It has all nessesary electronics and a breadbord where you can try it out. After i was happy with the results i soldered everything on a protype board, but you can do it nicer of course ;) The colors were my sons choice, so dont blame me for that (its glow-in-the-dark green, so thats cool!!! ) ;) The radio electronics are made for 3V operation, but the filmpack batteries are 6V, so i used a 3.3V Traco Voltage regulator i had lying around, which is well within the specs of the BK1068 radio IC of 2.0-3.6V (http://www.ak-modul-bus.de/stat/bk1068_breakout_board.html) I also used some flat buttom switches i had left over and some silver plated copper wire (0.8mm). But you can use any kind of switches you like, there is plenty of room in this radio. To make contact to the batterypack i invented a solder less battery clip using some of the silver plated copper wire. For this i drilled 4 holes at the appropriate position in the battery clip and passed the wire through them. Once youre done, you glue the battery clip with some acetone to the backside of the radio at the right position. Check it together with the battery and also see the pictures i took. When everything done correctly you can simply replace the battery by pulling out the battery from the top of the radio, and lide in a new one (also a way to switch it off, so no need for an extra off switch ;) ) I added an LED and a standby touch switch on top of the Radio. Have Fun and please ask if you have questions...
