The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol of a serpent eating its own tail. It is often said to symbolize the cycle of death and rebirth, but I think it applies just as well to the way new ideas and designs are derived from old ones in a collaborative environment such as Thingiverse. In any case, my girlfriend likes it.Part of this thing's purpose is to show an example of personalizing the flexible bracelet design to a sculpture of your choice. The head of the snake is actually http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1466, simplified in MeshMixer. This bracelet has a circumference of 17.1cm, so scale the file as necessary for the intended wrist size. Initial z-height calibration must be quite accurate or else you'll have to trim down the squashed-out bits of the tabs with an exacto knife to make everything fit. Set "infill begin rotation" to zero in the fill section of SF, so that the fill lines run the length of the bracelet for strength. The body of the snake was created from the attached Matlab script (which again, should also work in Octave, provided you download surf2stl from the file exchange). The OpenSCAD file has a number of parameters that can be tweaked, or you can simply use it as a template for creating your own bracelet.
