This is exactly what the title implies - a hinge for the top of a standard 1 gallon paint can. I got the idea directly from this part (http://www.youtube.com/v/DjCPS6FD7RM?version=3&start=57&end=83&autoplay=0&hl=en_US&rel=0) of a tips and tricks video by Jimmy DiResta. He uses it for a can of Bondo body filler, but I thought that I might be able to make a printable version for a standard paint can. It is used to easily open and close the paint can without touching the lid (to avoid messy hands) The largest part is just under 9 x 4 x 1 centimeters, so it should be able to print easily on most printers. The hole in the hinge is sized to fit a 1/4 inch bolt. All credit goes to the ingenious Jimmy DiResta for the design idea.I have not yet printed this design, but it is very simple so I don't foresee any issues. Just print one of the file named "paintcanhinge_arm" and two of "paintcanhinge_support". Then slide and fasten a 1/4inch bolt into the hole. Hot glue (or use the adhesion method of your choice) the apparatus on the paint can and paint away with clean hand (from opening the lid at least).
