This is a replacement Y motor mount for Mendel Max printers, although it could be modified to work with other aluminum extrusion frame printers.Advantages over stock part:Full 4 hole mounting for strengthMotor can be mounted with thermal tape or thermal grease contacting aluminum extrusion to act as heat sink. (note thermal grease in 4th image above)Inverted nature puts compressive stress on support elements rather than stress which acts on delaminating layers.Fully parametric with OpenSCAD source providedprint (I would not recommend PLA for motor mounts since motors can get quite warm and PLA gets soft)use 4 m3 screws to mount motor (motor goes on opposite side from curved supports so that the belt travels between the m5 mounting pads)put thermal tape or grease on motor side to contact aluminum extrusions (note thermal grease in 4th image above).mount assembly to extrusions with m5 screwsOpenSCAD editing: This uses configuration.scad.dist and functions.scad from Prusa's i3 project. These must be in the same folder as YMotorMnt_INV.scad. These files are found here: https://github.com/josefprusa/Prusa3.
