This is a soprano sized flute with a recorder-like fingering system. Like a recorder, much of the chromatic scale is available by cross-fingering. Consists of three sections, which slide together. The bore shape and hole parameters have been designed using Python package "demakein" so that the flute is in tune over two octaves. The holes are angled to provide a comfortable spacing.Note that this is a somewhat complex fingering system. If you're familiary with recorder, cool. If your're after something simple to play like a fife, perhaps try this model instead: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:38865Thanks to John Boshua for the excellent print in ABS plastic. I added some decorative rings to the design, after it was printed.Printing height is 113.5mm.The joints have 0.35mm clearance all around. The joints need to form a tight seal. Blue teflon plumbing tape appears to work quite well for this.See the file "pflute-fingering.pdf" for the fingering chart. You can adjust the design by installing the Python package "demakein". For example you can use demakein to design a flute in the key that you want, or that has a straight rather than tapered bore, or with a different joint clearance. Demakein can also produce shapes for CNC-milling in wood.http://logarithmic.net/pfh/design http://pypi.python.org/pypi/demakeinIf you can program in Python, demakein can be extended to produce designs for other woodwind instruments. I will be adding further built-in designs over the coming weeks.
