Proposed as the model to be used in the weekly 3D printing competition for 3rd - 8th June 2012 - started by RepRapBCN - see here - http://bit.ly/Nt5SdWThis model has been reduced in resolution (1/4) and in size (1/2) it's a tricky print - Only a few rules this week - I have tested it with Slic3r and it works, V0.7.2 throws some errors, but the Gcode is good, V0.8.2 slices it without any fuss. I'm sure Skeinforge and the others should not be a problem. This model may be a good candidate slicing with different settings and mixing the Gcode (info on my blog about mixing Gcode - http://richrap.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/slic3r-is-nicer-part-2-filament-and.html ) as it has some tricky sections - [list] *- It has a very shallow domed base, that is very hard to get looking good, so that't the first challenge. So print whatever size you like, just say how big it is in the print. And whatever layer height and speed you like. This should be a really interesting model to learn a few printing tricks from, good luck everyone, and do give it a go, it's not quite as tricky as it looks. The competition is open to any 3D printer and any machine!Post it here and on the RepRap forum page http://bit.ly/Nt5SdWGood luck and Happy printing.
