A simple design to illustrate the concept of a tactile writing prompt for the novel The Scarlet Letter. The concept is to use 3D printed symbols to evoke rich meaningful responses from students and to encourage students to play with symbolism as a memory tool. The lesson idea is explained at the designmaketeach.com blog at http://designmaketeach.com/2013/05/17/tactile-writing-prompts/The design was created in the trial version of Netfabb Studio. The example print was printed at 150%. Primed and painted scarlet with acrylic paint. Other examples of tactile writing prompts are; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:87780 The Hunger Games http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:19896 Please add additional ideas for tactile writing prompts in the comments or contact me on Twitter @DesignMakeTeach or on Facebook www.facebook.com/DesignMakeTeach.
