I don't know if it was a dream or real but I saw an advert (may have been in my sleep) that was advertising a high end printer that is capable of "strong and flexible" parts and the design to show it off was something a bit like this! I have printed this in ABS with 100% infill at 0.2mm layer height and it works pretty well. It will break if too much force is used though.
