
This model shows two right circular cylinders of equal radii intersecting at right angles. It pairs nicely with the Steinmetz solid (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:906281). This model was designed and printed by my WLU summer research student Emily Jaekle ('16). We are having trouble re-printing this object, and may need to redesign it. Stay-tuned. Update 7/23/15 We've uploaded a second file (2intersectioncyinders.stl), where we have smoothed out the look of the object by adding in more rotation segments. We've also made the object a little thicker, so it will scale better. We've repaired this model inside so that it will print on all printers (including the MakerBot). The first print file (TwoIntersectingCylinders.stl) was printed on an Afinia H480. We used the following printer settings: 2 shells, 0.20mm layer height, Fill: hollow, Color matched supports, Raft on Mid-way through the print, the filament got tangled and we needed to stop. We decided we liked the model as it was, as a teaching tool. We have yet to print the entire object.
