Needed a shatter resistant hurricane lamp for a stage production. This is what I came up with. Fully assembled, lamp stands about 21" tall. I had some printer problems when it came time to make the shade, so I improvised with a plastic punch bowl, but I uploaded the file for the shade in the rendering. All made with the Makerbor Replicator 2 with PLA plastic- white and natural- then painted with spray paint where appropriate. Each portion is made to fit the Replicator 2's platform. The "glass," "ball," and "shade" (ball and shade- one half printed twice) have to be printed in two parts and glued together.
