I have need for a generalized cantilever arm. This thing is a cantilever arm that has a 8mm gap. It just so happens to fit the MakerBot plywood, so you could possibly use it on that. My intention is to use it for something else.Various sizes of things can be changed in the OpenScad file, so you can make it as large or small as you want, with any sized gap. This particular one I printed with an offset on the top portion. This is convenient for placing a flat piece, like a shelf on top of it.You could add your own screw holes if you need to fasten it to something more securely.1) Look at places in your design where a cantilever arm might be required. 2) Estimate How long you need your arm to be and edit the OpenScad file to match 3) Print as many of these as you need 4) Fasten them to your design appropriately 5) Rejoice! You might want to adjust your infill depending on the size of the thing as it can be a lot of plastic. The one in the picture was printed with "Loose" on an Up! printer. Another one was printed as "Big Hole". So, it just depends on strength characteristics you want.
