Here is a simple stand for the FT-8900R. This stand was inspired by, but not derived from, the FT817 stand by S57RZ (thing 219316). I created my stand in OpenSCAD rather than sketchup. Besides making it fit the FT-8900, I also made the foot plate align with the tabletop angle rather than just be parallel to the bottom of the radio. I've included the OpenSCAD file so you can add your call sign to the bottom of the stand like I did (see comment in the code for instructions). The uploaded STL files are generic (no call sign). Also, if you would like a stand for any other radio, simply create your own module at the bottom that defines the outline projection of the radio (see the FT8900 module as an example). Just replace the call to FT8900R with your radio module. Be sure to change the radio dimension parameters at the top of the file as well to match your radio. Everything else should probably work without modification (although no promises, I haven't tried it).. You can use this part as is by just having the back of the radio (the fan) sit on the table. Or, you can create a second set of 'back legs' to get the back of the radio off the table like I did. To create the back set of legs I hacked the bottom off of a previous print that had other issues. I cut the legs off at 30mm from the longest tip to the bottom of the radio frame and matched the angle to the foot on the front legs. Obviously you could create a 'back legs' part very easily in OpenSCAD using the current part and slicing off the legs at the appropriate height and angle. Note that this part fits TIGHT on the radio. Depending on how your printer prints, you might want to scale it slightly for a looser fit. Also note that this part is just at the limit of what I can print on the 6" bed of my Solidoodle 2 (the part is 148.2mm wide and my print deck is 150mm). If you have a smaller printer, or a larger radio (if you are making your own stand) you may not be able to print it.Print as is or edit the OpenSCAD file to either (or both): Note that this fits TIGHT on the radio so you might need to scale it slightly for a looser fit depending on how your printer prints.
