This is a chess board I made for a project. All of the pieces I designed and printed myself. There was a lot of trial and error but I think it turned out pretty good. The blocks are the first things that I started out with. You can change the scaling on the block however you would like but the best result I found was with with this size and 20% infill with acceleration. I downloaded acceleration for my pieces about hlafway through the board printing process and the pieces came out a little differently. You need 64 blocks and 32 must be one color and the other 32 have to be another color, you pick, but I liked the two blues together. The pieces can be attached using acetone. You can paint it on and the pieces will stick together. The pawns were next. 16 have to be made with two different colors, 8 of each. Printed with acceleration the top will not look perfect and so you will have to make a sort of slurry from a mix of acetone and the plastic. If left in a small glass jar, the slurry will become the consistancy of paint and you paint it on. Afterwards you will need a large glass jar or beaker with a glass or metal top. In the bottom add about an inch of acetone and have some sort of glass platform to keep the pieces out of the liquid. I used a 2000ml beaker and a 200ml beaker with a large watch glass for the top. I placed the large beaker on a hotplate and had a piece sitting on the other beaker in the middle. When headed on a hot plate, as the acetone evaporates, i concluded that when some of the acetone gets to the top of the watch glass and begins to drip in the middle, that is usually when the piece is done. This step will make all of the pieces shiney, it should be done for all of the pieces and done one at a time. If you do not have a hot plate, you can do it without heat but it takes about 3 hours to be just as shiney but it takes between 2-4 minutes when done with heat. Unforunately how I designed the other pieces, they are much larger and must be scaled down and depending on how large you make the board, you should scale them accoringly. All of the other pieces, you have to scale them, print them, paint them, and shine them. There should be no other problems. The Kings cross will not print when it is connected to the top. You have to print out a seperate cross and attach with Methel Ethel Ketone or simple plastic attaching glue. Lastly the knight is not a very good design. I found it hard to make and I dont like the one I have. It looks like a rabbit but if anyone wants to make a better one go for it and add it as a derivative. Hope you like it Olivia
