Inspired by something so simple, I couldn't believe it. I backed his project because I wanted one and if the project updates weren't convincing enough, I went and derived my very own for proof-of-concept. The project is currently live as of June 18, 2013 and my inspiration can be found at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1066541019/thriftyvac This is really a proof-of-concept. If you like what you see, back his project to show support. 6/19/13 Update: Separate file for top and bottom and corrected top piece so single round corner actually goes into impression.Once printed, do the following: -place the smaller piece on top of the larger piece fitting where the impressions are -acquire a --Vacuum Pump --Check Valve --Big enough bag to house a smaller bag to vacuum seal --Test item like a cut in half lemon -Poke a hole in the big bag where the vacuum station will go when it is inside the big bag -plug the check valve into the hole so that the big bag is between the check valve and vacuum station base. Once the air has been vacuum out of both bags, seal the inner bag. It really helps to have the inner bag partially sealed and with the opening on top of the rounded corner square. The hole is about 3mm in diameter to accommodate the check valve insert. Make sure to get sealable bags that have double zippers. Sliders could work but have read they aren't so great. Experiment! Vacuum pump, check valve can be located on the big selection dot com online retailer. If you like what you see, support his awesome KS project!
