This is a pavise as used in Japan during the Sengoku Jidai - the age of the country at war. Pavises were used primarily during sieges, but also figured in some open battles. They were carried by bowmen and arquebusiers alike. This one carries the Takeda-clan crest on the front, and has a working, hinged support at the back. The stl's are made for 10mm figures but the scad model is fully parametric - just edit the "man" variable in the top of the file to your man height in mm and recompile. I have made use of an edited version of Erik's bride at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3495 for scale - he's easy to comment out from the scad if you simply want the pavise.
