This is a Dremel mount for the cupcake inspired by MarcusWolschon's PCB Mount However, his was for his quick disconnect and the Thingomatic so I made my own. :)http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9280UPDATE 5/13/12 UPDATE 9/10/12 I started removing two of the three bolts that the wooden platform has holes cut out for and using longer bolts and washers to hold the wooden platform plate securely to the xy carriage. This reduced a lot of x y slop that resulted from the platform moving while only being held by the magnets. You will need: 1 - 100mm x 100mm wooden build platform 2 - 1/4" dia x 100mm shafts 2 - 1/4" dia sleve bearings (XY Linear Bearing) 6 - 8mm nuts (5/16" nuts work) 5 - Little Gold Magnets 1 - 8mm x 120mm all thread (5/16" x 5" all-thread) 4 - 3mm nuts 4 - 3mm x 20mm socket head cap screws 3 - 5mm nuts 3 - 5mm x 20mm socket head cap screwsItems with * are in the Makerbot Grab Bag #2 with a bunch of other stuff. http://store.makerbot.com/grab-bag2.html http://store.makerbot.com/3mm-gold-magnet.htmlSteps1) Print one of each part.2) Glue the little magnets into the build platform (or use an old unused one without the bright orange acrylic plate)3) Insert sleeve bearings into both ends of the pusher and a nut into the center.4) Install Wall 1 to Makerbot wooden platform using the 3mm screws, and nuts5) Insert the 1/4" x 100mm shafts into each side of the wall.6) Slide the pusher onto the 1/4" shafts7) Slide the opposite wall onto the shafts and the other side of the makerbot platform until the 3mm screws can be inserted through the platform and install nuts.8) Insert Bearings into the bearing holes at the center of each wall. (note they can easily fall out at this point)9) Insert the 120mm all thread through the bearings and thread into the pusher. Ensure there is an additional bearing on both sides of each bearing.10) Place an additional nut onto one end of the all thread aligning the hexagons and cut off any additional all thread.11) Press fit the 8mm Knob onto the two nuts at the end of the all thread.12) Place the work platform in place of the existing HBP/ABP in Cupcake.13) Place 3 5mm nuts into holes in the dremel mount.14) Mount Dremel in place of existing Hot End in Cupcake15) I created a new machine profile in the Machines.xml specifically for this application. I removed everything in the tools section. (see attached file, Note I that my Cupcake has Gen4 electronics, the Gen3 stopped working) Computer Set-upWithin the Skeinforge xx section of the Replicator G (...replicatorg-00xx\skein_engines\skeinforge-xx\skeinforge_application\prefs) I copied the exisiting folder that I used for printing and renamed the file. You will need to modify the "start" and "end" files to remove the temperature references and any moving that might cause interference. Without any real setup in the start.gcode. I have to change the line "G92 X0 Y0 Z0 (set origin to current position)" to "G92 X0 Y0 Zxx (set origin to current position)" where the xx is a layer higher than the first layer in the gcode I just created. I then can set the dremel cutting tool at the top of the part that I am cutting. (if anyone knows a better way to do this please tell me.The first time you print you will need to change the settings from Extrusion to Mill. (Ensure your part is taller than the Layer height or it won't create code and won't tell you why.)Important Skeinforge settingsChop/Layer thickness = height of layersChop/Perimeter Width (mm) = Tool DiameterFeed/Feed Rate(mm/s)= speed of head while cutting (I slowed mine to 2mm/s to reduce backlash and wear and tear on the bot, it is pretty slow)Feed/Travel Feed Rate(mm/s)= speed of head while not cuttingLift/Clearance above top = height of tool for travel above top layer of cuttingMill/Loop Inner Outset over Perimeter width (ratio) = the amount of material to remove beyond inside perimeterMill/Loop Outer Outset over Perimeter width (ratio) = the amount of material to remove beyond outside perimeterDrilling Holes Update 9/10/12I have had issues drilling holes into a part even with the hole diameter 2x the size of the tool diameter. It seems that there is a flaw in the slicing in skeinforge that will not allow the hole to be created. As a workaround. I either use a small drill tool or create a rectangle with one dimension slightly larger than the tool diameter and the other dimension about 2x the tool diameter. Unfortunately it then is a slot. usefull at times but not always what you desire.
