This is my remix of the fantastic "VEND - the totally printed candy dispenser" by ErikJDurwoodII. His design is a great conversation starter, and a fun way to show off your cool hobby. I have made what I consider to be improvements on some of the parts provided in his original. In the instructions portion, I detail the changes and give information on parts that are interchangeable with the original. I have provided files for the parts that remain unchanged. This machine works best with hard shiny candy like small gumballs, M&Ms and Reese's Pieces. UPDATE 3/12/14: I replaced the NewFlap.stl with NewFlapCoinsRev1.stl and added NewFlapPlainRev1.stl These flaps have a thicker hinge, but it still works with the other parts. UPDATE 11/11/14: A Due to a request from a user for a shorter body, I have uploaded a remixed version of KingRahl's shorter body. I plan on a revision to the body, collar, and hatch parts to include a locking mechanism similar to my locking pencil box. Please check back in later!I printed all parts on my Replicator Dual with .2mm layers at 8% infill at 90mm/s in PLA. None of the parts require support. Here are the parts I changed: NewBody.stl - I fixed the bridges that were not reaching the sides (see BadBridge.pdf). I made the slots for the hatch inserts bigger for a better fit. I made the lower hole for the clip penetrate all the way into the money compartment. I added the extruded 25 cent text above the coin slot. This part is fully compatible with the original parts. NewCoinFace.stl - I extruded the center portion of the arrows so the faces would be on the bed of the printer. I was not happy with the finish of the bridging on this very prominent face. This part is fully compatible with the original parts. NewDualDrum.stl - It seemed that lots of people wanted a drum that did not provide as much volume. I made a smaller drum that gives approximately 28 M&Ms for each quarter. Since it only took up a little room, I made it two sided. I revised the slots that the Pawl part clicks into for dual sided operation. I also switched the orientation of the handle to better show off the arrows on the coin face part. The original had a spacer that is no longer needed. This part fits in the original, but should be used with the DualCoinCam and new locks. NewDualCoinCam.stl - I mirrored the coin slot, so you only have to turn the handle 180 degrees to get candy. I made the space for the locks larger for the updated locks. This part fits the original, but should be used with the DualDrum and new locks. NewLocks.stl - I had problems with the original locks slipping past the opening, and then you had to disassemble the machine to fix it. The new parts more closely match the mechanics in the coin face, and have a ramp on the back side that lets you turn it back if it does slip. These parts can only be used with the DualCoinCam. NewClips.stl - I had a hard time getting the clips deep into the body, and they seemed to want to pop out once installed. I added the long handles to get them started, then you can push them in with a long screwdriver. I beefed up the clip and stretched it a bit, so it holds tight. These parts are compatible with the original parts. NewFlap.stl - I could not cut the right parts off the original part without breaking it, so I made it print with supports that you just break off. I made a place to put in 2 quarters during the print (pause it to insert them). They provide weight to the flap so the candy doesn't shoot out! The coins fit pretty tightly if they are new, but if you don't want them to spin, use a dab of super glue before you insert them. Updated Rev1 parts are more durable, and I included a no coin version. This part is compatible with the original parts. All the remaining parts that begin with Vend are original parts included here for ease of download. No changes have been made.
