First test of using the Laywoo-3D 3d-printable wood material.I ordered some of the Laywoo-D23 material (3mm) through ebay.First results are very positive, though the material is much softer than I had anticipated.I Printed a simple test ring at standard speed and temperature I use for PLA on my ultimaker (200 deg C, 100 mm/s). The material's finish is simply awesome! Slightly rough, matte surface. Print lines are not visible (at .1 mm layer height).It looks like cut MDF, it's fairly soft, you can write on it using a ballpoint. It's much softer than PLA, a 10% infill gives a part that is easily deformed, almost feels like corrugated cardboard.Look and feel is pretty much the same as cut MDF. You can press a sharp object into it fairly easily.So far, I've printed at 180 and 250 degC. 250 is slightly darker and a bit firmer/harder, the impression left by a sharp object is not as deep.Oh yea, it oozes like hell. Much worse than PLA. Smells like slightly burnt wood when you print. (The smell of a circular saw). Mmmm woood. First layers are fairly hard to lay down nicely with more complex prints, it doesn't stick as well as PLA to blue tape.First conclusions: very nice material. But you won't be able to use it readily for just anything.UPDATE: the material seems to harden quite a bit after a couple of hours. Nice!
