This is my most ambitious project yet, and it kind of works! It's probably the last Honda-themed model I'm doing for a while. I considered starting with the model of this car from the SketchUp warehouse, but ended up making my own from scratch with some minor detail changes I wanted. The car model is probably a bit less accurate than the SketchUp warehouse one, the ASIMO head is fairly accurate but the rest of robot mode only takes cues from that robot, as well as a few from Gipsy Danger. In car mode it's scaled to 1:24 to match Transformers Alternators/Binaltech. I'm pretty satisfied with the way the model transforms, but it doesn't really stay in either mode. In car mode it tends to droop in places, while in robot mode the arms don't stay up and more importantly it only seems to be able to stand up unsupported if the legs are positioned in one very specific way. It took me 11 minutes to get it standing for the pictures, but it doesn't take quite as long if you're posing it at eye level on a table. This pose also helps to hide the weirdness of the shape of the legs.This model has a lot of parts with print-in-place joints, so if you don't know how well your printer handles these, this may not be the best project to learn on. Part quantities: Print one of each, except pinL (8), pinS (6), pinjoint (6), wheels (4), "Wpinjoint" (2), doorhinge (2). The pinjoints and hands should be printed with support, front and leg1s with raft and support, and for the doors I ended up printing with raft and "excessive support". Cleaning support out of pin sockets is a pain. I also added some built-in support at the back of the Front that doesn't come off too easily. I printed most of this in ABS and needed helper discs to get the torso, leg2s and feet to stick properly. I'd like to think assembly is fairly straightforward, and if not you can refer to the source file? This is the first project I've done with emmett's new pins, and they're great in the small sizes I use. The folding swords are cool but the robot can't actually hold them in a way that keeps them standing. In the source file you'll find a stand that also doesn't really work.
