this is my design for a human Mars base.I designed it as the first permanent human settlement to be used for further exploration and expansion. Due to uneven terrain the base is designed using parametric algorithms so it can adjust it's shape depending on the topology found on the landing spot . We can use aerial terrain scanning to get a detailed map of the site and use it as a input in the design algorithm that will generate the 3d model for building. The base is designed to be modular, so it can be extend adding multiple sections. the structural system is designed like a very light space-frame using small diameter elements that supports the outer layer ,giving a strong dome like structure. i used a closed loop circulation system with emergency hatches defining individual compartments (safe zones ). In case of malfunction of one compartment the crew can retreat in the other ones with full access to the rest of the base. The power for the base is generated using small nuclear reactors or who knows... Maybe we will have discoverer a new more reliable source of power. The frozen water in Mars soil will be purified for drinking and separate the hydrogen from the oxygen for fuel and air. High efficiency solar panels will be used for generating current power . The panels are designed to be roboticlly assembled using custom 3dprinted parts, with the material from the spaceship that will take us to Mars. Windows are to be made with light nano material like aerogel that can endure the sand storms and also protect the humans form deadly radiation. We can see and use the difference in gravitational pull as an input in our design process and think the spaces with a totally new logic, one that takes advantage of it rather than seeing it as a problem. I took the esthetics of the first human martian base like a challenge for me and i think it should also be a goal for us as a now multi-planetary civilization.
