This is a rehash of PhysicsDude's low-poly Fennec Fox but with column/tree type support which is both necessary and much easier to remove than other types of support. The STL is manifold and should play well with most slicers. :-) The column-tree support is done with Meshmixer. Share and Enjoy!! Having released V2 which printed nicely on my machine and later V3 which I have yet to print, it is clear that careful judgement is necessary when printing with support. Firstly, I'm a big fan of printing with fat brims on the 1st layer and I keep my acceleration low which leads to much smoother motion and less jerking about which helps with the survival of print jobs and their support structure. Here are the latest Meshmixer support structure generating settings incase someone wants to review them, tweak or comment. Regardless it is best to become familiar with the meaning of each of them for future support print jobs. General Settings: Angle Thresh = 35 Contact Tol = 0 Y-Offset = 0 mm <--- Great to increase to raise up a project and deal with support removal rather than flatness of "bottom printing" Support Generator Max Angle = 45 Density = 75 Layer Height = 0.4 mm (I usually print at 0.4mm and it reduces the polygon count) Post Diameter = 3 mm Tip Diameter = 0.8 mm Base Diameter = 10 mm <-- could go as high as 40 here to create a nice mat below the project for good adhesion to the print surface (using a wide brim while slicing does the job too) Advanced Support: Allow Top Connections = no (unchecked) Optimization = 100 <-- Why not? Solid Min Offset = 0 Tip Layers = 10 <-- Unusually Tall, allowing for some distance between the mass of structural support and the print project Base Layers = 1 <-- This allows for a nice flat flexible "pancake" for adhesion Strut Density = 50 <-- This is a matter of personal choice. Post Sides = 16 In meshmixer you can also add and remove (ctrl-click) support structures to you heart's content. (its fun too) I hope this does someone else some good. Being able to print with support with confidence is a wonderful thing. :-)
