This is a Thumb Piano, for making music. It's a toy, not to be taken too seriously!The tines provide a do-re-mi major scale, do (middle) re (right) mi (left) fa (r) sol (l) la (r) ti (l) do (r).This thing is entered in the Customizer Challenge, in the "Artistic" category, it being neither "Useful" nor "Wearable"!The OpenSCAD file combines the three pieces of the Thumb Piano, the tines, the sound board, and the sound box. In the Customizer, choose each separately to create the STL file for each part.I have printed all the parts in PLA of various colors, with .2mm layers, 3 solid layers at top and bottom, and with 2 perimeters. The recommended infill varies from part to part and is noted below. (So, although you could print all three pieces at once if your build platform is large enough, you probably don't want to do that!)The Tines [Print time: about 30m]The tines are the main customizable part of the Thumb Piano. You choose the length of the longest tine, the width of the tines, and the gap between them. The longest tine determines the key of the piano. You'll want to experiment a bit, as once made it's not possible to "tune" the piano. A 75mm x 4mm tine, printed in solid PLA, gives me F#, for example.Print the tines solid, to ensure consistent density.The Sound Board [Print time: about 2h]The sound board has a slot into which the tines assembly snaps, and a sound hole. If necessary, use an emery board to make the tines assembly fit.Print with 15% infill.The Sound Box [Print time: about 4h]There is an option to print the sound box with a hole ready to receive a 1/4" socket. Attach a piezoelectric mic to the socket and glue it to the underside of the sound board to enable amplification.Print with 50% infill.
