This is an approximately 1:385 scale model of an Imperial German P-Class zeppelin as used in World War I. As these airships varied individually, it most closely replicates LZ 87 in German Imperial Army service. The primary reference used for dimensions and shapes was "Zeppelin p-class: Description of design features and differences between the ships" by Thorsten Brand. At this scale, it is 42.5 centimeters (16.7 inches) in length.Print all five modules at a desired layer thickness (best between 0.1 and 0.3 mm). Use the featured picture on this page as a guide for assembly. Modules 1-3 nest easily inside one another fore-to-aft, but care must be taken to correctly clock them on assembly. Make sure the fore-to-aft longeron details line up, particularly on Module 2. The cars on Modules 1 and 3 set the bottom of the model and can be used to define the center plane for clocking. Module 4 is an adaptor with a flat, sheer end and a beveled end; the sheer end goes into the notch on the aft end of Module 3. Module 5 nests on top of Module 4 and is clocked to Module 3.
