This bracket mounts your flash unit to a standard 1/4" tripod for wireless lighting applications. This was designed to fit a Metz 50 AF-1 flash, but should also fit other units that have a standard hot shoe mount. This is useful if you have a flash unit that can be triggered as a wireless slave using your camera's built-in flash, or if you use wireless triggers and mount your flash to the receiver, and the receiver to the bracket. Also functions as a protective cover for your flash's electrical contacts.The flash_mount.stl file contains the three parts of the bracket and can be printed all at once on a Cupcake build platform. Make sure to center the parts on the build platform in ReplicatorG prior to printing! Once printed, widen the hole in the bottom piece with a 1/4" drill bit and insert a 1/4" nut into the hexagonal hole. This will serve as the tripod connection. Lightly sand the top and bottom surfaces of each part until nice and flat. Glue the three pieces together using generous amounts of glue (I highly recommend using dissolved ABS in acetone for the strongest bond). Make sure the glue is completely dry and the bond is strong before attempting to fit your flash unit. Although I am pretty certain the bracket is strong enough, I would advise against mounting your flash in a horizontal position just in case the weight of the flash exceeds the strength of the bracket (it's made of plastic after all!). Now that you can mount your flash off-camera, there should be no need to mount it horizontally anyway.
