This friction hinge is adjustable (see instructions) A friction hinge is a hinge that uses friction to keep itself and what ever it is holding onto, open. These types of hinges are used in many applications. You may be familiar with the friction hinges on your laptop computer. To keep the screen from succumbing to gravity, it uses friction hinges! It's untested so please leave any problems in the comments. If you like this please give it a like so that it can be shared with more people.To piece this friction hinge together first you will need to sand and file the print. Next you may need to re-drill the holes on the hinge fingers to smooth out the inside of them. Next you will need a bolt that has a shaft with a 5mm diameter and is long enough to travel through all of the hinge fingers, and a nylon locking nut to screw onto the bolt. Before running the bolt, two rubber o-rings will need to be placed on each of the internal hinge finger contact points. These are marked in a figure shown above. Once you have the o-rings and bolt in place, simply place a washer on the end and tighten the nylon locking nut, until the about of friction you need is achieved.
