Many thanks to Kelly Egan for the design of this great project! The combination of 3D Printing, some electronics, and Arduino programming are some of my favorite things! NEMA ADAPTER: For my build of this project, I'm going to use a NEMA 17 to spin the horses. I designed the adapter to adapt the original ponytrope center hub 4 bolt pattern to a 5mm diameter NEMA shaft. After I made the piece shown in the picture, I have since improved the STL file by lowering the M3 set screw more towards the center of the adapter where there is more material. -22 March 2015 CENTER BASE CAROUSEL I thought it looked better with the angled part at the top, gives it a crown molding effect. -28 March 2015 TOP PLATE (NEMA MOUNT) I just fixed the stl file, the center lip was the wrong diameter. -28 March 2015 MAGNET ADAPTER I want all the electronics inside the center base, so I am moving the magnet down instead of the sensor up. I am using a 12.7 x 5mm magnet from Adafruit. FUTURE PLANS I'm planning to make a base plate to hold the Arduino Leonardo, this part will get glued into the bottom. Won't be working on this until I get it all working. Last thing is a holder for strobe light. it would be awesome to design a film project (classic reel style) to hold the LED. This is not something I plan design, so if someone is interested...?! Please make it to hold the 1Watt star LED from Adafruit. Hopefully by next weekend I'll have all the electronics put together and the pony trope up and running, might be longer, but when I do get that far I'll be posting a youtube video. Which I feel is a mandatory requirement before I can click the "I MADE ONE" button on Kelly's original design! Hopefully in about 2 weeks from today (22 March 2015) I'll be posting a complete video of the working Ponytrope. M3 hardware for the adapter setscrew The top plate is made to set onto the center carousel, The bolt pattern is for a NEMA 17, different tops can be made for different motor bolt patterns.
