3D print your own "Ink Extruder" Ballpoint Click Pen. This does require a bit of manual work but it's very quick, easy and a great alternative to using a (boring) everyday pen. Modelled on the 5th Generation Replicator Smart Extruder, this is a working clickable ballpoint pen that uses the internals from a common Bic Click pen.... it's a pen that looks like a Smart Extruder! Choose your own colors for the nozzle and body as well as the colour ink and clicker (as they are available in a broad range of colours). Please check you use a pen of the type shown and the spring etc. is correct as some Bic Click pens vary in spring type. Two different nozzle files have been provided... choose the correct file to print. Refer to the images for details. For something so simple the Bic Click Pen is quite ingenious however the internal dimensions and precision is important for it to function well... and on a Replicator 2 and 5th Generation Replicator this works really well. A very cool novelty pen... the "Ink Extruder". IMPORTANT: Please read the instructions well and view all the images. Some images uploaded are of prototypes so vary to the final result.... which works best! If you like this take time to check out my other designs! Print in two parts in different colours or use the file with both parts to print all at once. Tested on a Replicator 2 and 5th Generation Replicator. Use Raft, 0.20mm / Std. resolution but no support required as it has been designed in. Once you have your parts printed remove the four areas of designed in support gently. They have been designed to break away without much force so as mot to damage the body which has thin walls. In most cases it can be broken away by hand without the need to use a knife. Next, break a Medium Bic Click Ballpoint Pen and remove the internal parts. Trim the ink tube 47mm shorter. Insert the 'clicker' part into the body and align as it was in the original pen. Use a jewellers screwdriver to help ensure it is correctly aligned (Refer images). Keep the body 'clicker down' once aligned and in place so it stays in position. Assemble the ink tube, sprint and cap then place it into the nozzle... The last step is to push the nozzle and inserted parts into the body... take care to ensure the clicker stays aligned by keeping it pointing down until the other components are fully secured in place. It will take some force to push it together. This is necessary so it stays secure while writing, the clicker stays in place and functions as it should. Once assembled it won't come apart again easily so make sure everything is assembled as instructed and you use the ink tube from a new pen. . If you want to make the MakerBot M a different colour from the rest of the print pause the machine and change the filament as soon as you see it starting to print the shape (on a Replicator 2, with the Raft depth edited to total 0.97mm, use Z-Pause to pause the print at 13mm where you change the filament color). NOTE: There are two different Nozzle .stl files as not all Bic Clic Pens use the same spring/internals. The difference is not great so refer to the images and print the correct nozzle file for the type of spring taken from the Bic Click Pen you are converting.
