I love Zomboe's Thing9. Separating the design into different prints provides several advantages for me; control over the settings for each part allowing for better overall print quality, ability to try variations on the design without performing a full reprint, increased ease of post processing, and fewer failed prints due to that darn tower falling to pieces near the end. I am also able to print the curve as a hollow tube allowing me to string an LED to the tower turning it into a nightlight.Settings and tricks I used, as always your mileage may vary.Thing9curve: Read this post www.gruelabs.blogspot.com I've got about a clean print bed if you have problems with your print sticking or curling at the base. Mine is stuck solid even with its minimal footprint after a quick clean.Activate Cool and/or use a cooling fan at nozzle. If the air around the nozzle is too hot the current layer of the print will curl up causing the above layer to splutter outside your perimeter giving that ugly droopy look, too cool and the smaller leg won't laminate correctly. If this is a problem you can turn your fan on after the two legs meet or activate multiply and print two at once, this will help each one cool slightly as the other copy is worked on.For a hollow print Extra Shells on Base = 0 Extra Shells sparse layers = 2 (this allows a fully solid surface even on gradual slopes) Extra Shells alternate Solid layers = 2 Infill = 0 (will also help warping do to internal stress as there is no internals) In Carve uncheck "Infill in direction of Bridges"Thing9base: The base has a side with a gradual slope, high infill or extra shells should improv appearance. Activate Cool and/or fan at nozzle as the top of the wall will thank you for it. Otherwise its a basic print.Thing9tower: I turned on Multiply, did two at once and had no problems. Assembly: Slide the larger leg through the hole in the tower and snap or glue them into place, pop on the tower and be impressed; be impressed with Zomboe, your machine, and yourself...good job.
