I needed a 3d printed gift for a relative who was keen to learn more about 3d printing, so with him being a guitar muso, I consulted thingiverse. Inspired by CDavis' 3D printed pick holder (thing:1709), I created this one, which is more compact. It has a 3d printed spring which holds the picks inside. It has two parts, the plectrum holder and a heavy duty clip for your guitar strap.Print the holder (best printed flat on its base, and you will need to have well tuned support settings). It will take a lot of cleaning to get the support out of the inside, I used a flat jeweller's screwdriver to break the support structures free. Either use double sided tape on the back of the holder and use it as is, or print the clip as well. The clip is straightforward print on its side. Superglue the clip to the pick holder and you're done.Improvements (hence the work in progress label, but I'm not sure I will get around to doing them) would be to make the spring section part of the clip as it would be much better printed on its side like the clip is, and another improvement would be to allow some room under the spring (I noted that the spring worked much better before gluing the holder to the clip which restricts its compression a bit).I also printed a few picks (thing:1709) to go along with the gift!
