Open your beers, I will! This yoda bottle opener is based on the existing yoda figurines, and looks like one too when standing, but has a bottle opener on the bottom. I took existing Yoda STLs and simplified the mesh in meshlab, from 400k to 10k faces. I did this so I could import it in solidworks, and it is slightly noticable, but not too bad. Once I had it in solidworks,I added the bottle opener feature on the bottom, which was based on previous bottle openers I have made and tested (one Bucky Badger bottle opener, which I have not published here yet). I have not tested this one yet, hence I have left this a work in progress, and I will likely continue to modify this as i test it and improve it. To print this, I used replicatorG, where I rotated it and used "full support" on the inside bottle opener cavity. UPDATE 1: current geometry fits bottle correctly. also, I added a bottle fit testing piece, which you can print to make sure it will fit on top of the bottle before you print the full yoda. UPDATE 2: Yoda has been tested, albeit not as thoroughly as I might like. Yoda should work. continue to stand by for more testing if you are still hesitant. UPDATE 3: after some thorough testing Yoda worked for several months of use, but eventually the opener cracked along the horizontally printed plane. printed at what i believe to be 30% infill, with 3 shells, so kick the infill up and it should be fine. I will reprint and continue testing. additionally, after several uses, it became slightly more difficult to use, as the lip degraded. I am not sure exactly what I need to do to fix this, so I may be updating the file. UPDATE 4: printed it again at 60% infill, and 3 shells. seems to be working like a charm. feel free to continue standing by for more updates as i continue to put it to the test! :D
