This filament holder is basically a thrust bearing, and after some thought I released that whilst printing ball bearings is unlikely to yield good results, it is possible to print a tapered roller bearing. So, my Mk2 design does that, gone are the steel balls of my original concept and are replaced by tapered rollers. This design also includes retainer clips so the races can be moved without all the bearings falling out. Again this race can have multiple uses, and this version can even be used vertically, but it wont have the same load bearing capacity of the steel ball version. however the load bearing capacity can be increased by using more rollersAll parts on my build are printer with 0.2mm layer height. The basic build requires 12 rollers, when printing these make sure you plate them end on with the largest end in the plate, there is chamfer at this end but its there to try and reduce flash from the bed. Its possible to build this without the spacer, by filling the race with rollers, this will increase the load bearing properties, but you probably better make sure yur rollers print very well. All parts can be printed without support Before assembling the race make sure the rollers can move through the race smoothly and they are free in the spacer, take your time and adjust with an exacto knife if necessary.
