Scientists can now measure them and study the wing movements that are way too fast for the human eye to see, thanks to high-speed motion photography. While hovering, a hummingbird can flap its wings up to 80 times per second. When the males of some species dive to show their interest in a female, they can easily flap their wings in such a fast form.
