Can I fix my laptop that has a broken operating system?
So I apparently needed to update my windows cause the "restart now or delay" screen poped up while using it. I hit restart and it began updating, after a restart the "configuring windows" screen showed up on boot and I accidentally hit the power button to send the pc into powersaving mode. But after another pressing the screen showed back up right away and the install finished. When my "hit ctrl+alt+delete to log in" screen showed up I held down my power button to turn the pc off (I was in a bit of a rush). Flash forward to 8-10 hours later when I go to turn it on again, the HP start screen shows up but when it hands it over to windows the screen goes blank and nothing happens except the pc's humming. Is the some way off booting from a usb windows and wipe the laptop and reinstall a fresh version or is there some other way of solving this?
I'm running a HP Elitebook using windows 7.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

kassadi - If you're not really specialized, I wouldn't recommend fixing it yourself.

vasile - You might make things worse lol, and I am speaking from experience. I then took it to a poole pc repairs, but my problem was quite different from yours. From what I know, newer laptops have a recovery partition on them. From there, you can do a system restore. Depending on the make of your laptop, it's usually f8 or f11 while the laptop boots up to access it. There should be 2 options: one to do a complete wipe and restore, and the other to keep your files and restore. For more information visit https://ifixit4u.co.uk/computer-services/pc-repair/.
