The scanner won't function properly if some relevant services aren't activated.
The associated services are listed here. Make sure to activate these services:
Remote Procedure Call RPC
DCOM Server Process Launcher
RPC Endpoint Mapper
Shell Hardware Detection
Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
The steps listed below will help you determine the status of the service. Consider Shell Hardware Detection for a moment.
1. While holding down the Windows logo, hit R. There will be a "Run" dialog box.
2. In the run box, type services. MSc and press the OK button.
3. Select Shell Hardware Detection from the Name list. Select Properties from the context menu when you right-click on it.
4. If "Service status" is listed as Stopped, click Start and OK. The service will then restart.
