The festival is organized in honor of Vittal Birdev, a very revered figure among the pastoral community of this region. The festival is organized on his arrival, as he predicts precipitation and other natural phenomena during the coming year.
The festive mood is fully preserved when people throw Haldi, or turmeric powder, at him while sitting under a banyan tree and seeking his blessing. Has anyone ever been to or would like to attend such a festival?

johnhar - Yeah, I would like to attend this festival for sure. But not now, obviously. By the way, I like to meet new people and get to know new cultures. So, this sounds like an adventure for me.

thomasparson - One of my friends is Indian and I heard about this festival from him. I would be very happy to visit India once and be present at this exciting festival. He even showed me once some nice pics from that festival in India. I think when the pandemic ends I will be able to go to visit India. I remember one festival on the street a few years ago, it was an awesome event. We didn't know then what can happen to us in the future. But, I'm sure we will pass the covid-19 and return to our normal lives.
