How did you get into Deer Hunting?

I was a late onset deer hunter after college. Hunted a lot of grouse growing up but not deer. Had a family friend let me rifle hunt his private land for a few seasons and never saw a deer. I had a couple buddies that were big bow hunters so I picked up a bow and started down the public land journey. I watched tons of videos and read way too much before my first real bow season. After I was actually able to get setup in spots to have does in bow range I was hooked just at the fact of being able to get so close. Shot my first buck the second year after passing way too many does the first year. I was hooked.

sfontana - Late start into deer hunting, but sounds like you're loving it now. Bow hunting on public land is a whole adventure in itself. Bagging that first buck must've been a thrill.

elinedesign - I started Deer hunting because my family always talked about their hunting trips, which sounded fantastic. Before I tried it, I read a lot to ensure I knew what I was doing. I found this great website with tips, like how to get Axis Deer by using alfalfa in a food plot and ensuring they have places to hide and water to drink. This helped me get ready and feel more confident. Hunting has been excellent for me because it's exciting to be outdoors and figure out how to track deer.
