About me

I run a Makerbot Replicator 2 for PLA projects and an XYZprinting Da Vinci 1.0 for ABS projects. Although I list that I print in PETG, I have not decided which machine I'll setup a profile for printing PETG; I just may purchase another machine for dedicated PETG printing as well as, already in the works, is a dedicated machine for printing Nylon/Carbon Fiber Nylon projects.

I have a small selection of misc. brands of PLA filament and several different colors of XYZprinting ABS, however as I use up these spools, I will be transitioning to COEX filament. COEX LLC is fairly local so if I don't have a specific material or color, I can drive up to COEX and pick up the required material without any delay waiting for filament to be shipped. Therefore potentially offering a fast turn-around for non-stocked colors or materials.

I'm also interested in SLA Resin systems and may purchase a small LCD-SLA or DLP-SLA resin machine to add to my 3D capability, sometime in 2018.

I'm the son of a German Journeyman Machinist who transitioned to Mechanical Engineer, retiring as a Sr. Project Engineer. From an early age on, I have been taught to design and machine to tight tolerances and exacting detail. I have an education and work history in Electro-Mechanical R&D and have been semi-self-employed for the last 20 years in the I.T. field.

Although I consider myself "medically retired", I keep a strong interest and hobby in Electro-Mechanical design, Electronics, and RF engineering.

Currently, I'm designing and building a CNC Laser Cutter/Engraver using a former "pick and place" circuit board populator as the X-Y system, and designing from scratch, a high power laser diode emitter head.
