Things I've Made

About me

Right off the bat, the bad news: my minimum order is $100. If you need design work, have a large print, or want to do something exciting with new materials please get in touch. If you have a smaller job, there are a number of great printers here on MakeXYZ that can help you.

My background is in mechanical engineering and product design, and I'm now focused full time on my own company, OpenFab PDX. My recent projects include the F-F-Fiddle, an open source, 3D printed electric violin. Check it out here: www.openfabpdx.com/fffiddle

I'm printing with two Type A Machines Series 1 printers and a Makerbot Replicator 2. Both are great printers, and the new Series 1 has a massive 12x12x12 inch build volume. I'm constantly tuning my machines, trying new software, and exploring materials, and as a result my parts are some of the best I've seen coming off of desktop 3D printers!

Delivery to metro-PDX area is free and by bicycle!

Update 6-23-14:
Now printing black NinjaFlex! NinjaFlex is a TPE, prints beautifully, and makes crazy strong, stretchy parts. Common ninjaFlex parts are drive belts, cell phone cases, and even BMX bike handlebar grips! http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:179161

Update 5-21-14:
I've just finished tuning my machines for new materials, all of which are available for your print: ProtoPasta's carbon fiber PLA, PLA/PHA from ColorFabb (makes beautiful parts), Taulman's bridge nylon, ColorFabb's wood filament (30% recycled pine), and several colors of PET+. I'll help you find a material that fits your needs!

My Reviews

Jon N.

David shared with me equal enthusiasm for my project. He provided powerful insights into the 3D printing world that allowed for a "one and done" design. Fantastic learning experience and pleased with the parts received!

Very helpful and professional. This was my first experience in the 3D design and David accomplished a very nice job to deliver but also help me in the process of this challenging project.
