About me

We are the Research Triangle High School Entrepreneurship Club. Our members have been 3D scanning for the past year and a half with the Matter and Form scanner and have come to know the ins and outs of its capabilities. We have used the device to scan many things ranging from awkwardly shaped fruit to sculptures to spaceships. In addition to the scanning we can texture and paint models in .obj and .ply format. We can scan in color but you will have to know how to handle the raw point cloud to request color scans for now. Our area with expertise with the scanner is creating models for 3D printing, but we can also scan in formats for popular game engines and other uses. We have CAD experience and so we can smooth and optimize models for 3D printing, as well as simplify them for users who don't need the thousands of triangles of model detail we get with each scan. We can also design for our customers with the aid of the scanner. For designing models, we specialize in household designs due to their simplicity and flexible design requirements, but can do many other types of models that aren't too complicated. We also have high-spec computers that can use photogrammetry to scan larger models by combining hundreds of photos. All proceeds go to acquiring 3D printers and other rapid prototyping equipment for students at local schools to promote STEM education and student entrepreneurship.
