Things I've Made

About me

I’ve been looking at 3D printing as a new skill to learn and try to differentiate myself as I get closer to graduation. Currently I am a Senior trying to get my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and when I finished paying for school last semester, I realized I had enough money left over to finally afford a printer. I was interested in printing as a hobby too as me and my girlfriend are really into tabletop RPGs and board games and saw how much those communities latched onto 3D printing. After researching models, I finally decided to get a Monoprice Maker Select V2.1 as it was in my price range and a printer that can be easily upgraded as I got more into printing. I’ve had the printer for more than half a year now and have modified it to help increase print quality and reliability; the more notable ones are the micro swiss all metal hot end and the printinz skin on top of the glass plate. Both upgrades have increased what types of filaments I can print with and have consistent adhesion to the plate.

My Standard prints are at 80 mm/s, layer height of .2 mm, and an infill of 20%. Usually I try to print without a raft or skirt and have had success so far, even with small objects, as the printinz skin allows the plastic to adhere extremely well. These settings can always be altered if the model needs to meet certain strength or quality standards. Unless a specific color is needed I will usually just print with whatever is already loaded on the printer. If there is a specific filament type or color needed I can usually get it within a day or two as I live near a Monoprice and Microcenter however I will have to charge more to cover the cost of the filament. With the all metal hotend I can print in more exotic filaments at a higher cost; currently have wood filament and am trying to get carbon fiber. If you need a more exotic filament that I currently do not have I will need more time to manufacture as I need to get it and dial in the printer settings if it is a material I do not have settings for already. I will not charge for test prints if I’m working with a new material before printing your model; if a model fails due to the printer that will not be charged against you, however, if a model fails due to a flaw in the model itself I will have to charge for that as I can’t afford to print broken models. If you are unable to fix the model yourself I can look at the model myself and see if I can repair it.

If you do not have a model or need to repair a file for a model I have experience using Solid Works and AutoCAD modeling software. When creating a model from scratch I need to have the basic concept and what it will be generally used for. If it is for a specific field of work I need to be made aware of that too so the model’s tolerance and accuracy meet those industry standards.

Feel free to message me anytime with questions, concerns, need help in buying a printer, or need help troubleshooting a printer you own. I am a full-time student that is also currently trying to get an Internship so I might not be able to message back right away, I will do my best to message you by the end of the day.
