makerbeck - 25 cents works theoretically but not in most cases. A little 10cc model that would go for 2.50 plus $5 base fee is not really worth doing unless you are doing it while you are watching Monday night football.

Now on the other hand, 25 of those trinkets for one customer at 25 cents/cc might be worth it.

For most of my work, I end up giving a bid.

jms3dprinting - I have been using 25 cents per gram and it is probably too little for the smaller parts because you are getting practically nothing for your time. I am not getting swamped with customers, either. The local source idea doesn't really work since I would just as soon mail the part to you anyway. the process of negotiating a pickup time is hampered by the on line format. Customer service and word of mouth advertising helps get repeat business but makexyz is good to get customer stream.

rapidtechnician - Everyone needs to keep there pricing high to bring the pricing structure up. Parts shouldn't cost pennies, that's a huge problem. Customers expect quality and will pay for it. The cheaper the model is doesn't mean you are going to get more business. Quality gets you repeat business........ I build big parts and charge competitive pricing and have excellent quality but wont think about dropping my prices........
